This is nothing more than a SCADA module...-Ywsia1

are there specific SCADA's or are all SCADA's standardized with the same format? --Cartoonman (talk) 13:31, 29 October 2016 (NZDT)

yes there are specific SCADAs that have their own way of acquiring data. Usually the way SCADA works is by using computers and GUIs. But sometimes they can be embedded in microcontrollers/modems such as these to "acquire" or "get" fast blips of AFSKAudio Frequency-Shift Keying data right before the idle. Since this is utility, it is probably connected to a power plant or whatever company this belongs to. It is usually used in acquiring in modules such as water or gas tanks in a plant. It is usually denoted as 2 FAFSK (Fast-AFSKAudio Frequency-Shift Keying) blips that hits a sensor to be sent to a computer by microcontrollers to the GUI.

It is sometimes used in AFSKAudio Frequency-Shift Keying paging links, but that ceases to exist because most POCSAG protocols do not use acquisition, its just modulated data being sent as a pulse train (regular FSKFrequency-Shift Keying) to the pager/machine. The reason why there is a "SCADA" type sound in some transmitters for AFSKAudio Frequency-Shift Keying types, there is a short "blip" at the beginning of the regular FSKFrequency-Shift Keying, God knows why.

But SCADA is usually heard with 1200 hz idle with AFSKAudio Frequency-Shift Keying blips interuppted in the transmission for the GUIs. And is also used on sensors, like this page describes. Its hard to explain in radio terms because SCADA usually only uses sensors. But, this page is describing a "sensor network", with a SCADA type sounbd in mind, makes me wonder if this should be added to identified as SCADA. Ywsia1

So in other words, this IS scada....

Also thanks for the merge. I still do not get the merging thing. Ywsia1

No problem, wiki markup is not trivial at all, nor is the editing system. Hopefully one day I will have the time to upgrade the website to make these changes much easier and straightforward to do. --Cartoonman (talk) 12:27, 1 September 2017 (NZST)
