Talk:Milstar
Hmm. Definitely strange. Can't wait to see what people find! Willt (talk)
identified as Milstar[edit]
This is indeed military... I've received this countless times, and it turns out this is part of a network of military satellites known as Milstar. There's five operational right now. What op received here is its UHFUltra High Frequency (300-3000 MHz) FHSS downlink (it has ones in SHF and even EHF), and sounds like water droplets: hence its nickname "Waterdrops". And based on the fact that you're receiving it in Australia pretty well, I'm pretty confident that you're picking up USA 157 (aka DFS-4). Really cool stuff, but don't think about it too much:
"Milstar is a joint service satellite communications system that provides secure, jam resistant, worldwide communications to meet essential wartime requirements for high priority military users."[2]
If you want a good starting point for identifying future military/satellite signals, check out UHFUltra High Frequency (300-3000 MHz)-Satcom's website here: [1] . He does all kinds of neat satellite work there.
Also a page on it by USAF: [2]

Great Identification KernelSanders, I have independently verified and I agree, this is Milstar. Nice find! --Cartoonman (talk) 17:58, 3 March 2018 (NZDT)
Never seen a Military satellite in the UHFUltra High Frequency (300-3000 MHz) band before. Also, this is close to my wireless mic I use. (237 MHzMegaHertz (MHz) 10^6 Hz!) Ywsia (Yalek) (talk)
Yea, it's a really rare find. If only people gave IQQuadrature signals form the basis of complex RF signal modulation and demodulation, both in hardware and in software, as well as in complex signal analysis. recordings of these things... --Cartoonman (talk) 18:47, 4 March 2018 (NZDT)
I might be able to get an IQQuadrature signals form the basis of complex RF signal modulation and demodulation, both in hardware and in software, as well as in complex signal analysis. recording of this signal. I hear it a lot. I do not know how to get an IQQuadrature signals form the basis of complex RF signal modulation and demodulation, both in hardware and in software, as well as in complex signal analysis. recording using SDR# yet, but once I do I will put it here. -WAW
Ok, I put the IQQuadrature signals form the basis of complex RF signal modulation and demodulation, both in hardware and in software, as well as in complex signal analysis. file on there. Let me know if it works, and let me know if you need a better sample. In the IQQuadrature signals form the basis of complex RF signal modulation and demodulation, both in hardware and in software, as well as in complex signal analysis. recording you can see some FLTSATCOM signals to the right of it. There was also a signal that showed up that I didnt reconize. It was a burst of data, wasnt at the same freq every time. Let me know if you reconize it. -WAW
