Talk:KY57/58 voice encryption
Yes yes, I know the sample given here for the page is quite weak. The video has better quality than what is shown here. Whats actually interesting about this signal is its use of encryption. The CVSD used here would be normal motorola CVSD? WRONG. In the video, it actually goes over an encryption algorithm called SAVILLE: (https://www.cryptomuseum.com/crypto/algo/saville/index.htm), which encrypts the tones even further with classified encryption and hashing. It is impossible to successfully decrypt this data, and would be highly illegal anyways.
I also find interesting is that these modes given in the video are also found in upper UHFUltra High Frequency (300-3000 MHz) via L band (further samples of this will be provided by kingwing34 in the future, as he and I exchanged information about one of the modes prevalent on these KY57/58 sats). I dont know if they also broadcast the same stuff that this KY57 58 variants do, but they do seem pretty close to the same preambles and codewords. Suggestions were supposed to be pointing towards the use of COMSEC preambles, but further research and information is required. --> Yalek W (talk)
